Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist at the National Association of Realtors, emphasizes:

“Buyers haven’t been in a better position in over five years to find the right home and negotiate a favorable price. Inventory is at its highest point since May 2020 during the COVID lockdown.”

Inventory gains are happening nationwide, although some regions show stronger recoveries than others. The South and West have surpassed pre-pandemic levels, while supply in the Northeast and Midwest remains tighter — but still improved compared to last year.
